ABOUT US
The CORYDON prefix was taken out with the Kennel Club in 1958 by Barbara and her sister Christine. When Barbara married John in 1960 the prefix was transferred to John & Barbara
We bred our first litter in 1962. The bitch being CHUCKALUCKS THAT’S MY GIRL - a grand daughter of Ch. Liberty of Ladypark, and the sire was CH JEFSFIRE STROLLAWAY.
From this litter we kept the bitch CORYDON BELLA DONNA.
All CORYDON'S go back to this mating, and we have now reached the 21st generation. We think that this must be unique in Rough Collie Breeding in the UK.
We have made up 23 UK Champions and are the first kennel ever to win more than 100 Kennel Club Challenge Certificates in Rough Collies. The total is now more than 160 CCs.
We have bred more than 60 Rough Collies who have become Champions in more than 19 countries world-wide. Including 7 International Champions.
Barbara was for many years the President of The London Collie Club, and since 1973 she has been the Breed Note Writer for the breed in Our Dogs. John, for 6 years, produced and published the popular magazine COLLIE DATA.
We must be unique in that we have our own fan club, which is based in Finland.
Dog World have featured CORYDON in their 2008 ANNUAL. Only the third kennel of any breed to be so honoured.
We have judged in countries all over the World. From New Zealand and Australia to Finland and Norway.
Miranda, our daughter joined the kennel prefix a few years ago and is now taking a very active part in the Breeding and Exhibiting of the Corydon Collies and is judging a large number of breeds at Open Show level and is the youngest Championship Show Judge in the breed in the UK. She has judged the Breed in several other countries, including Finland, Denmark, Switzerland, Australia and New Zealand. She is now secretary of the East Anglian Collie Association.
Our dogs were Best of Breed at CRUFT’s Dog Show in 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2008.
Our blue merle CH PHREELANCER PHROSTY MOON OVER CORYDON is the Breed Record Holder for Challenge Certificate wins with 32. He was also Best of Breed at Cruft’s Dog Show on 3 consecutive years, another record.
