1993

A year of mixed blessings. The dogs did quite well in the show-ring, but we lost the great Blue Merle dog CORYDON MOON MIRACLE. He caught a very rare virus which did dreadful things to his brain. Despite the best treatment that Cambridge University could give him he had to be put down. Very sad as he was only 4 years old and had won 2 Challenge Certificates. In my opinion he would have been one of the GREATS of the breed. Strangely, the day after he died we took CORYDON SILVER MOON to the Welsh kennel Club Show under Mr D Parry, who awarded her the Challenge Certificate and Best of Breed. We said afterwards that this should really have gone to Moomin, especially as the judge said he was looking for him. Yet another taken from us before they could have the magic CHAMPION in front of their name. Interestingly, Moon Miracle and Silver Moon had a litter. A bitch puppy from this mating went to Australia. She was mated to AUS CH MOON WIZARD AT CORYDON. (who was also the sire of CH CORYDON BLACKCAT who was born in 1993). A bitch from this litter won Best in Show at the Australian National Collie Club Show.

However, the dogs did have some success during the year. CORYDON WHISPER WILLOW won the CC at the Scottish Kennel Club show under Gwen Beaden. She also won the Res CC at Southern Counties under Terry Taylor. At the same show CH LOWERPARK MOONLIGHTER AT CORYDON won the Res Dog CC. A bit of an unwanted double really.

ALSSALA CANNY BAIRN AT CORYDON started to make his mark. He won Reserve Best in Show at Doncaster all breeds Open Show, Best of Breed at Sheffield Open Show, Best of Breed at Eastwood Open Show. Then Reserve Best in Show at the Smooth Collie Club Ch. Show under Mrs L Cartledge. And then won the Res CC at Northumberland and Durham Ch Show under Mrs L Robinson.

Not to be totally overshadowed CORYDON LA STUPENDA won Best in Show at the Midland Collie Club Open Show under Miss B French.

Our dog won 25 first prizes during the year.
