1991
This was a quiet year as we had a holiday and judging appointments in Australia and New Zealand. We had, as usual, a wonderful time. If you ever get the chance, go. The Blue Mountains are extraordinary. And the scenery in New Zealand is just unbelievable.
Back to showing. This was the year of CORYDON MOON MIRACLE. He won 2 Challenge Certificates and one Res CC. The first big win came at Southern Counties under Mrs A C Hutchinson who awarded him the CC and Best of Breed. This was followed at Three Counties where Robin Searle awarded him the CC and Best of Breed. He was short listed in the group that day. His Res CC came at Midland Counties under Joe Kirk.
The year was also memorable in that we introduced 4 bitch puppies from 3 litters that had been born within 2 weeks of each other. They were all to have a big impact on the CORYDON Kennel and Rough Collies in general. These were CORYDON LA STUPENDA, CORYDON WHISPER WILLOW, and the blue merle litter sisters CORYDON SILVER MOON and CORYDON MOON GODDESS. It all seems such a short time ago, yet they would be 20 years old now if they had lived.
They all won first prizes during the year. La Stupenda was the most successful as she won Best Puppy in the Breed at Notts County Open Show (this always had a big Rough Collie entry.) and was then awarded Best Puppy at Bath Ch Show under Mr Bernini from Italy. Looking back on this win it is strange that his dog (a Pelido) should return to the UK and be mated to La Stupenda. A mating that produced Ch Corydon Il Supremo. But more of that in later pages.
Also this year we introduced Moon Wizard At Corydon who gave us Ch. Corydon Blackcat before he went to Australia where he attained his title in that country.
During 1991 our dogs won 31 1st Prizes.
We had 2 litters during 1991. The first was a repeat mating that produced Ch Corydon La Stupenda. From this we had INT CH CORYDON STAR MACADAM. He went to Norway. They were born on the 26th March 1991.
The second litter Born on the 22/12/1991 were by Corydon Bound for Glory out of Corydon Gold Delilah. From this litter we had INT CH CORYDON GOLD BOND who went to Finland
