CORYDON COLLIES
The history of CORYDON ROUGH COLLIES

This was the year that I bought my first Rough Collie
In July I contacted Miss Grey of the famous Ladypark Collies for a dog puppy.
The result that a 12 week old LIGHT CAVALRY OF LADYPARK came to me at my parents home at Hertford.
He became very well-known for his, at the time, huge coat.
With a pedigree like this he should have been a world beater, but he was just a very big softy who did a little bit of winning and was a superb dog for me to start out on the showing game.
PRECIOUS GEM
Dam of Light Cavalry of Ladypark. He was one of eleven puppies and in her next litter she reared thirteen. Quite a dam. She was owned by a disabled gentleman in North Wales, so did not get to many shows, but when she was shown she always won, and many judges thought that she would easily win her Championship. She was the dam of several big winners, including a Champion in Germany and the Best of Breed winner at Brussels International Show April 5th 1959, when he was just 9 months old.
Barbara started showing Birchbours Baron during this year. He won his and Barbara’s first ever 1st Prize when he won the Special Yearling Class under Mr H Underwood at the London & Provincial Collie Club Open Show on the 5/10/1957. He went on to win 2 more 1st Prizes at this show. He won another 1st Prize under Mr A W Fullwood at Woodgreen Open Show on the 2/11/1957, and he finished the year by winning the Novice dog Class at the Collie Association Ch Show under Mrs W Barber on the 9/11/1957.
